Although intimate partner violence is certainly connected to other manifestations of violence, Delgado's account of women - specifically mothers - leading community interventions to reduce gun violence is a unique and important contribution. Urban gun violence is not only a symptom of social disinvestment and structural racism but also a predictor of it: "We cannot obtain comprehensive community health status without gun violence as part of this picture" (166). Delgado provides an impressive overview of existing scholarship examining the root causes of urban gun violence and community violence intervention strategies. [Extracted from the article]
