The current study was conducted using gas-phase material separation analysis and mass spectrometry in the GC-MS unit / Department of Environment and Water of the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2021. Which aimed to separate and diagnose the active compounds in the methanolic extract of the flowers and seeds of the Safflower plant (Carthamus tinctorius L.). The study showed that the methanolic extract of the flowers of the plant under study contains 20 active compounds, where the highest percentages were recorded for heptocosane (42.57%), nonanoic acid (17.93%), 2-pentadecanone, 6,10,14-trimethyl (8.49%), while the compounds α-terpinyl acetate, 1.3-cyclohexadiene, β-Caryophyllene (z) were recorded with the lowest percentages and with concentrations (0.39%) (0.41%) (0.47%) respectively. As for the methanolic extract of the seeds, it contained 23 active compounds, Linoleic acid, N-hexanal, and 7,4'-Dimethoxy-3-hydroxyflavone, which recorded the highest percentages, with concentrations amounting to (9.02)% (12.47%) (26.03%), respectively, The lowest percentages were the compounds 4H-Pyran-4-one, 2,3-dihydro-3,5-dihydroxy-6-methyl (0.62%), Vitamin E (0.88%), nonanoic acid (1.02%). The methanolic extract of Safflower flowers and seeds is very rich in fatty acids such as Linoleic acid, Oleic acid, Diglycerol, Myristic Acid, nonanoic acid as well as various active compounds such as phenols, terpenes and flavonoids, which are used in the food, medical and cosmetic industries.
