Introduction: Support groups usually consist of individuals with similar problems they are facing or have faced and who provides support, give advice, optimistic environment and encouragement to the people who take part in such groups. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of Support group approach on the level of fatigue and pain among patients with cervical cancer. Methods: A quasi experimental study was conducted on the patients diagnosed with cervical cancer in a tertiary care hospital, Chandigarh,. A total of 60 patients receiving radiotherapy and chemotherapy concurrently were assigned to two groups with 30 each in experimental and control group. Cervical cancer support group meetings were conducted face to face for the patients and their caregivers included in experimental group once a week for 3 consecutive weeks. On an average, each group constituted of 8-10 patients with cervical cancer along with their caregivers. The control group received routine care only. The tools used for the study were Chalder fatigue Scale and Pain numeric rating scale. Ethical approval was obtained from Institute Ethics Committee, PGIMER, Chandigarh. The trial was registered with CTRI. The baseline data was collected on their first of chemotherapy cycle and follow up was done after one and half months. Data was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: Socio-demographic variables and clinical profile of participants in both groups were comparable. 66.6% patients in experimental and 73.3% in control group were in age group 41-60 years and with mean age 52.07±9.58 years. Support group approach significantly reduced fatigue (p =0.01) in experimental group. But in both the groups, there was decrease in pain levels though was not statistically significant (p>0.05) in any of the groups.
