The number of his works were not numerous and discussions about his works are in most cases short criticiams and postscrips about them. Those are in the appreciative category which didn't come up to the theory of literature. The writer of this treatise studied the method of Yugse's poem, examined closely its essence and compared his poems with other writer's resistance poems. Such a series of analysis and synthesic resulted in the following meaning on the history of modern poem. 1) The poetic words in Yugse's poems show preference for the selection of symboic vocabulary. Such as night for the anxiety and fear complex: winter for cruel reality, star for longing and ideal, bird for freedom and romance etc. Moreover, as mental form and nature of his poems are resistive and combative, his poetic words are masculine and have passionate appearance through intensity of the vocabulary selection, extreme habitual use of adverbial words, and diverse conjugation. 2) His poems make use of the metaphor and simile as the most important poetic tool. Those two also symbolise effectively his vast and far-reaching nature and aestheti sensibility. 3) It is a very significant meaning on the history of modern poem that, though the figure of Ygsa's poems take the organic form, it is differant from the universal form of free verse: Also constitution of form and rhythm in his poems which was influenced on Chinese poetry was groped individually about rhythm and form of Korean traditional poetry in the middle of 1930's when modernism swayed. 4) The most important issue is that he showed the inexorable resistance spirit and true participation through poem. he insisted that poetry is not only behavior, but the participation of true significance. He experienced innumerable agony and adversity while wandering through Chins porper and Manchuria so that he might resist colonial suppression and recover the trodden fatherland. The endeavor to surmount such adversity and fortitude is sublimed into philosophy of waiting and superhuman's will. Through resistance against Japanese imperialism with consciousness of being under sentence of extreme devated strife, he showed a truer method of resistance as he symbolised forever waiting and the thrist for superhumanism into his poems. His poems have significant meaning in the viewpoint that poems of Yugsa as an artist have poetic excellence and he pioneered the method of true participation through poetry. 5) His poems compliment the reason of resistance, namely, ideological searaity found in other poet's resistance poems of those days, and conacionsness of reality and history in his poems distinguishes his from other poems. | |
