영문초록 : This study is one to estimate the fracture toughness of BS4360-50D hot rolled steel plates and to investigate the microscopic and macroscopic fracture behavior in accordance with JSME S001 regulation equipping with self-made clip-gage and back-face straingage with the exception the general equipment. The result is as follows; 1. The value of fracture toughness is J_(ic) = 287.8KJ/㎡. The blunting line appear two stage; the first is region predominated by pearlite blunting, the second by ferrite blunting. 2. As the result of linearity test of self-made clip-gage manufactured to measure the upper-lower plain loading line displacement (V_(LL')), the maximum deviation is 0.0022mm and lower than that of ASTM regulation (maximum deviation < 0.0025m). Accordingly, the linearity of self-made clip-gage is satisfactory. 3. After inflexion point of P-ε_(BF) where the back face deformation is increased suddenly, the changing rate (Δε_(BF) / ΔV_(LL')) is relatively much higher than that before inflexion point. 4. Before the inflexion point, the changing rate (ΔV_(LL) / ΔV_(LL')) of the two loading line displacement is increased with crack length increment and this behavior is similar to Newman's analysis result; after the inflexion point, (ΔV_(LL) / ΔV_(LL')) appears nearly 1.00 regardless of crack length. 5. The location of the rotational center is longer than Newman's; it is because of the material characteristics that Newman's is one of high strengthㆍlow toughness, this one of low strengthㆍhigh toughness.
