520 | ▼b영문초록 : It is important to know the characteristic of development psychology of children in education. Likewise for effective music education, teachers should know the musical capacity of each child and the process of studying. Psychology can offer the basis for this, and especially the theory of Piaget gives significant suggestion. He studied how the cognitivism in children's growth progresses. And this study has given great influence in the theory of growth of children and practical study of education. The theory of concept forming can be applied to musical concept development. The theory about development stages gives the information of musical ability which children have in each stages, moreover it supplies educational insight. Especially the theory about the principle of conservation can be applied to musical conservation by many music educator ; it supports the theory of Piaget. This study gives brief information about theoretical basis and significant concept of cogrutive growth - schema, assimilation, accommodation and eqilibriam-in studying cognitive development of Piaget first. Second, it summerized and analized preceeding theses - studies of Zimmerman, Schultz, Petzold, and Larsen - which examined experiment sand subjects which apply conservation principle of Piaget to musical subjects : this thesis tried to investigate the relationship between age and acquirement of conservation principle. Piaget classified into four steps-senorimoter stage, preoperational stage, concrete operational stage, formal operational stage-according to the cognitive characteristics of children. Each of them are different in qualities and none of them can be omitted. Also they have development with connecting each other. Namely the latter steps are based on the experiences and the essential elements of former ones. Such step theory supplies teachers with an insight which they can understand the cognitive characteristics of students and can teach them fit for it and help to teach students effectively in the school. Therefore thirdly, this thesis studied the characteristic of cognitive growth and the characteristic of musical growth according to the development steps of Piaget and it put and emphasis on this. In the result of this study, the theory of Piaget gives an important suggestion on the music education. It suggests that we should account much of the voluntary and independent direct experience of students ; it suggests what programs should be taugh fit for the ages of children and basic musical concepts-instrument, key, melody, rhythm. tempo. mode, etc. Also, it suggests that teachers should understand the musical capacity of students ; teach the various ways suitable for children and apply them comprehensive music. With this conclusion, teachers should choose appropriate instruction-study method for children to act and express in their capacity ;should try to accomplish the positive teaching activities which helps and stimulates spontaneous behavior of students. | |
