520 | ▼b영문초록 : It may justly be asserted that any presentation of flower Patterns on textile implies manifestation of the human will to harmonize with nature. That is, it is the mind to hold possession of the beauty of nature to embroider or put on flowers on textile which is most closely related to human beings, which shows the object with which she intends to look to advantage. The flower pattered textile was made habitual use of as women's favorite dress patterns, and they received, in particular, emphasis in both the 18th and the 19th centuries with Rouis XV as the central figure. The flower patterns flourishing all the more in Europe in the 18th and the 19th centuries was due to an elaborate study of plants by means of advanced natural science which was brought about through the Renaissance A variety of improvement of plants and glower growing enabled designers to ornament with realistic representation of flowers. Moreover, the publication of illustrated books of flower made it possible still more to inaugurate new fashions of flower patterns, remarkable growth of technique for weaving paved the way to expression of flower patterns to variety. This study has reached, through its researches of the French flower patterns in the 18th and 19th centuries which were called "the centuries of flowers", the following conclusion: 1. It has been found that the all over arrangement commanded an overwhelming majority in classification of flower pattern in their arrangement, whereas the methods of expression of the flower patterns showed an appropriate ratio, wince it was a turning point switching from the realistic expression to the model expression. 2. It was also revealed that a good many flower patterns introduced from the Orient were made use of, in particular rose patterned textile pervailing overwhelmingly as the subject matter. 3. With regard to their uses, this study has found no variety of expression methods applied which may be ascribed to the flower patters not having been so susceptible of the fashions in the interior docorations, but found many in uses for dresses. 4. Cotton fabrics won, it is learned, a majority in the field of materials, which may be proved on the ground that it was in wide use in the age. After the realistic expression of the French flower patterns had flourished which was characterized by naturalism, the age of Art nouveau was introduced and obtained a great vogue. It is supposed that the then flower patterns made their appearance which generally marked lambetn and tender hues and pictorial atmosphere of a great nation boasting of its highest authority on arts. It is advisable that a variety of rich designs are to be developed so that flower patterns may be made use of synthetically in many fields. | |
