영문초록 : The purpose of this study is to derive the pattern of traditional dwelling. The method of this research is the comparison and analysis for the composition and scale of Minka in two rural village, Nam-sa and Yang-dong while Nam-sa is located in the flatland, Yang-dong is located on the hill. The results of this study are summarized as follows; In form of space, composition of Nam-sa is closed with arrangement, Jongka and Banka are surrounded with Minka which formed the houseing groups. And the road pattern is a net type, the passages to housing groups are used for only each family names as semi-private space. Yang-dong is located in the hill. Janka and Banka are surrouned with Minka which formed the housing groups. And the road pattern is a type of the branches of a tree which extend to a valley. Main composition building of Nam-sa is composed of Anche, Sarangche and Busokche -ABC1-or a building of Anche, Sarangche and two building of Busokcle -ABC2-. In Yang-dong, the building is composed of a building of Anche, .Sarangche and Busokche or only a building of Anche. A Type is more distributed Yang-dong than Nam-sa because of 'Karapjip' , a dwelling of a servant. Main type of buildig arrangement in Nam-sa is ㄷ,ㄱ letter type and in Yang-dong is ㅡ,ㄱ,ㅁ letter type. In ㅁ letter type, Yang-dong is located on the hill that is wealthy village. Therefore all the sections of building are connected with closed composition. On the other side, open composition in Nam-sa reflects characteristic of the topography. Composition of floor style is as follows; Anche in Nam-sa has partition of kichen by increase of Gan(bay) and it's Minka type for security of living space. On the contrary, Yang-dong is composed by Banka type by increase of Gan(bay). The greater part of Sarangche is composed by Marupomjae style based on the exprression of confucian ideas and awareness of dignity. Comparison of each building scale is explained in view of the material of the roof. About Anche, in a tiled roof, Anche of Yang-dong is composed in larger scale than that of Nam-sa because of the expanse of scale of composition room. And in a thatched roof, Anche of Nam-sa is larger than that of Yang-dong. About Sarangche, in a tiled roof, Sarangche's of both village is similar in the point of scale. But in thatched roof, Sarangche of Nam-sa is larger than that of Yang-dong. The cause seems to ensure Nongyong space which the system is mostly complex style in Nam-sa. About Busokche, that of Nam-sa is larger and has more building that of Yang-dong. This suggest that in Nam-sa, agriculture is more important. And in Yang-dong, the area of construction is limitted by the topography of the ground. Main constitutive room in Nam-sa is according to kitchen, the main room (Anbang). In kitchen, the main room, the main floored room (Daecheng), a tiled roof in Yang-dong, make sure of square measure by increase of number of Gan(bay). So its composed larger scale than Nam-sa's. Especially, main floored room serves as social reception space. On the other side, the floor of a Korean verandah (Toimaru) is more distributed Yang-dong than Nam-sa and it does duty as main floored room. Quarnering space is distributed according to Busokche, Sarangche, Anche. A rate of occupation in whole building area is greater in nam-sa than in Yang-dong. So It is found that Nam-sa is more dependent on agriculture than Yang-dong.
