An Examination of Information Security Training and Education for IT Professionals in a Community College: A Case Study.

Summary: This case study research explored the cybersecurity systems and training and education of IT professionals at a member college of the Florida College System. Thematic analysis was utilized to analyze interview transcripts of 6 respondents. A more descriptive analysis was completed using the survey responses from 15 respondents. From this analysis a thematic map was produced comprised of the theme awareness, with a subtheme of job roles. Also related to awareness was reaction to an event. This subtheme had two related subthemes of perception and automation. Opportunities was another main theme with subthemes of lack of training and on-the-job training. The final theme identified was resources with subthemes of cost and staffing. Future research possibilities resulting from this research are also discussed.
