Approximately 75% of cases of renal cell carcinoma, also known as kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), are diagnosed during procedures to identify renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Although non-invasive radiological techniques are widely applied in the diagnoses of KIRC, > 50% of KIRCs are currently detected incidentally. The presence of microRNA (miRNA) in serum has the potential to serve as a non-invasive diagnostic biomarker for KICC.
