The design of a multiple-input multiple-output optical integrator using a semiconductor optical amplifier is proposed. The design is based on non-interacting state feedback control through dynamic extension, which is a well established technique in nonlinear dynamical system theory. First it is shown the dynamical equations of a semiconductor optical amplifier with two inputs and two outputs has a well-defined vector relative degree of [1,1] in a large range of operating points. It is demonstrated that such a device can be transformed into an integrator by applying state feedback. The design is verified by simulating the closed loop device in MATLAB Simulink.
