With the rapid change in technology and customisation of the product often lead to a shorter product life cycle. The shorter life cycle of the product demands the recovery of the remaining usable value from the end-of-life or end-of-use product. Remanufacturing operation is considered as the best recovery operation because the quality and warranty of the remanufactured product are 'as same as' the new product. Remanufacturing operation is successfully executed in developed countries, whereas the remanufacturing scenario in developing countries like India is not so organised. Thus, an exploratory study related to the remanufacturing process is required in the Indian context. The objective of this paper is to study the remanufacturing process and various key operational aspects of remanufacturing such as used product acquisition, reverse logistics, marketing of the remanufactured product in the Indian context. Further, the SWOT analysis is also performed.
