•The optimal addition of fermented Broussonetia Papyriferain grass carp was 4.58 % and 5.28 % according to SGR and FCR.•Fermented Broussonetia Papyriferadecreased the mRNA expression of pro-inflammation cytokines in grass carp intestine.•Adding 20 % fermented Broussonetia Papyriferaaffected the intestinal antioxidant capacity and microbiota of grass carp.
