This non-systematic Pubmed review was performed to evaluate the use of 5 mm endostaplers in pediatric endoscopic surgery with results available in children aged between 1 day and 17 years. Three reports identified the use of the endostapler in bowel anastomosis, two in laparoscopic anorectoplasty and one in thoracoscopic resections of congenital lung malformations. Although the actual surgical application may be in larger number of patients, the number of published reports with regards to the application of the 5 mm endostapler in pediatric endoscopic procedures are limited and further reporting will provide better insights into further possible applications and outcomes.
