In this study, I tried to analyze overseas Koreans’ ideas and nostalgias for homeland by anthropology of emotion centered on emotion, feeling and cultural environment of migrants themselves. It is common to think that overseas Koreans in China do not feel so much nostalgia for homeland because of near distance between the host country and homeland. However, if we try to observe their living world, overseas Korea in China, they have distinct features from are different to overseas Koreans living in other countries. These features are represented through various nostalgias and ideas of homeland more emotionally and concretely. As a result, it appears in the form of pioneering, structural-restorative and reflective nostalgias for overseas Koreans in China. Pioneering nostalgia is to recall the origin of today’s success from the harsh past. Reflective nostalgia is that the past is revived in the current core. Structural-restorative nostalgia is when one reconstitutes the lost homeland in old times consciously. These nostalgias are utilized actually as a cultural resource by overseas Korean communities in China. However, it is not all for nostalgia to be resolve various real problems. Nevertheless, nostalgia provide opportunity to search for a new alternative by considering against modern time and place accustomed to us at least once as nostalgia is to relocate the past which can’t come back.
