English porcelain manufactory in Staffordshire. It was established in 1751 by William Littler, and its painters included William Duesbury (in 1754–5). The factory made figures and ambitious moulded tablewares similar to those made at Chelsea Porcelain Factory. The earliest figures, known as ‘snowmen’, were formerly attributed to Derby. Later figures were sometimes original, but were often imitations of continental designs.
