Experiments about disappearance from the sight of a glass rod and the gap between two acrylic plates were demonstrated by using sugar water. The sugar density is adjusted by considering its refractive index to be similar to glass or acrylic. The reflectivity at the gap of acrylic plates was the smallest when the gap was filled with index matched sugar water. These experiments show that there is less refraction and reflection of light at the boundary of mediums when the difference in refractive index between mediums is small. Through these magic-like experiments, students will be able to explore the scientific meaning of seeing an object along with the characteristics of light in an interesting way, and it will be possible to use it as a convergent and open inquiry.
