The purpose of this study is to find out how women were described in the videos taken by the US military during the Korean War. Korean War footage (ADCㆍLC Film) owned by Hallym University was included as subjects in the investigation and the visual image of ‘War and Women’ in the video was analyzed. This study was conducted through the process of basic research using data from the Asian Culture Research Institute of Hallym University, an actual examination of images, and a literature search through comparison and contrast between images and ADC Shot List Card. The purpose of producing ADCㆍLC Film was investigated to understand the intention of image production and the lives of women during the Korean War were examined by searching for records of ‘realistic women’ in the ‘showing women’ filmed by the US Army Signal Corps. Women who were in the rear during the Korean War played a major role in economic activities to take responsibility for their families’ livelihoods. The US Army Signal Corps classified these women as the ‘hardship’. It is also found to be intended to express even women in public service such as soldiers and police as a symbol of Korea, which is protected by the US military, rather than as an independent new womanhood.
