This paper proposes the IxDL application method based on Interaction Design Language (IxDL) theory in the hope to improve the efficiency and quality of micro-interaction design yield. Micro-interaction has gained more and more attention from interaction designers, but the designers’ experience usually determines the design plans during micro-interaction design. However, this work method costs too much in communication with team or front-end developer, and there is a lack of researches and methods shedding light on how to systematically and regularly do a micro-interactive design and efficiently communicate with developers. IXDL Application Method derives from the fundamental theoretical framework of IxDL and Activity theory. For optimize existing application method, IxDL Application Method decomposes an IxDL interaction framework into essential interaction elements by the actual requirement and then group these elements into four interactive element levels. The matching of inter-level elements can produce several potential interaction solutions to strengthen the efficiency and quality of interaction design work. In the process of interaction element matching, the elements are divided into fundamental creation and elaborated creation to apply to different stages in the interaction design process. To testify the effectiveness of this method, experiment by comparing the number of design documents from the three groups of subjects within the specified time. The experimental results proved decisive on the effectiveness of the IXDL application method in the mobile environment. It is hoped that the Method can be promoted in interaction design projects applied by enterprises and design education divisions to provides a design method that is worthy of reference.
