The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship betweenparents' psychological control, smartphone overdependence, difficultyin performing functions, and academic delay behavior perceived byadolescents in 324 middle school students. The purpose of this studywas to verify the effect of parental psychological control onadolescents' academic delay behavior, as well as the effect of parentalpsychological control on academic delay behavior through smartphoneoverdependence and difficulty in performing functions. Therefore, aself-report questionnaire was used for 324 adolescents using theparents' psychological control, smartphone overdependence, simpleexecution function difficulty, and academic delay behavior scale, andfinally 324 copies of data were used for analysis. The collected datawere analyzed as follows using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 programs. The results of this study are as follows.First, it was found that parental psychological control did notsignificantly affect adolescents' academic delay behavior.Second, dependence on smartphones played a mediating role in therelationship between parents' psychological control and adolescents'academic delay behavior.Third, in the relationship between parents' psychological controland adolescents' academic delay behavior, difficulty in implementationplayed a mediating role.Fourth, it was found that parents' psychological control affectsacademic delay behavior by sequentially mediating adolescents'dependence on smartphones and difficulty in performing functions. This study sought a more integrated understanding of parents'psychological control through the verification of a comprehensive paththrough which parents' psychological control affects adolescents'academic delay behavior, and confirmed the influence of smartphoneoverdependence and difficulty in performing functions as factors thatreduce academic delay behavior. Therefore, if we look at smartphoneoverdependence and difficulty in performing functions to preventadolescents' academic delay behavior, we will be able to intervenepositively in adolescents' academic delay behavior.
