The purpose of this study is to explain the importance of mother's emotional expression, to find out the relationship between infant's self-regulation ability and leadership, and to examine the influence of mother's emotional expression on infant's self-regulation ability and leadership.Research questions according to the purpose of this study were set as follows.First, what is the correlation between the mother's emotional expression, the infant's self-regulation power, and the infant's leadership?Second, what is the effect on the mother's emotional expression and the infant's self-regulation and leadership? The subjects of this study were 241 mothers and teachers of infants aged 3 years, 4 years, and 5 years old who are attending a daycare center located in Pohang. To examine the mother's emotional expression, a tool modified by Han Young-min (2005) in the home self-expression questionnaire was used, a self-regulation test tool developed by Lee Jung-ran (2003) was used, and a 'child leadership test tool developed by Jang Young-sook and Hwang Yoon-se (2009) was used. Pearson's correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed on the data collected after the test using the SPSS 27.0 program. The research results revealed in this study are summarized as follows.First, the mother's positive emotional expression showed a positive correlation with the infant's self-regulation ability, and negative emotional expression showed a negative correlation with the infant's self-regulation ability. In addition, the mother's positive and negative emotional expression was found to be a meaningful variable predicting the child's self-regulation ability.Second, the mother's positive emotional expression showed a positive correlation with the infant's leadership, and negative emotional expression showed a negative correlation with the infant's leadership. In addition, the mother's positive and negative emotional expression was found to be a meaningful variable predicting infant leadership. As a result of this study, it can be seen that the mother's emotional expression is closely related to and influences the infant's self-regulation ability and leadership. Therefore, it is meaningful to recognize that the mother's positive emotional expression is an important variable in the child's self-regulation ability and leadership, and to encourage the mother's positive emotional expression to provide basic data for the development of programs and parent education for infants.
