This study aims to study the construction of spy characters in Korean and Chinese police films targeting the Korean film "New World" and the Chinese Hong Kong film "Infernal Affairs" This study compared and analyzed the space construction, mental dilemma, and narrative techniques of spy characters in the two works. It aims to reveal important implications for human self-awareness and value choices by analyzing in-depth the moral choices, psychological challenges, and survival states faced by spy characters in complex real-world situations. This study consists of a total of six chapters. Chapter 1 is an introduction to the purpose and significance of research, the scope of prior research and research, and the method of research. Chapter 2 summarizes the theoretical review of spy characters and the development process of spy characters, and analyzes the historical, cultural, and historical background of spy films in Korea and Hong Kong. Chapters 3 through 5 were compared and analyzed, respectively, the space construction, mental dilemma, and narrative techniques of spy characters in the two films. Chapter 6 summarizes the research results and research significance as a conclusion and points out the limitations and implications of the study. According to this study, the construction of spy characters was mainly reflected in three aspects: space construction, mental dilemma, and narrative techniques. Space construction showed the moral choices and survival challenges that spy characters face in real life through survival space, human relations space, and growth space. The mental dilemma focused on exploring the internal and external psychological conflicts that spy characters experience in the course of performing their duties. We analyzed narrative techniques in terms of subject matter, structure, and suspense, and showed psychological changes and value choices of spy characters in various situations. The value of this study is an in-depth analysis of the meaning and influencing factors of spy characters in two police films with different cultural backgrounds, which have important academic significance for film art, cultural research, and human psychology research. In addition, it is hoped that this study can provide new perspectives and ideas for follow-up research and better understand the complexity and real-life implications of hidden characters in Korean-Chinese police films to improve people's understanding and appreciation of these genres.
