In recent years, with the development of mobile communication technology and the popularity of mobile devices, various innovative activities have emerged in the field of mobile commerce. Mobile shopping is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the mobile internet market. Impulse buying has become a common shopping behavior in online shopping. In order to gain a competitive advantage in the mobile shopping market, it is necessary to have a clearer understanding of the characteristics of mobile commerce, consumers' psychological states, and impulse buying behavior. In traditional online shopping, there has been more research on flow experience and impulse buying theory, which has formed a relatively mature theoretical system. In practice, domestic and international companies have extensively applied these theories and achieved significant results. However, compared to traditional e-commerce, there is relatively less research in academia on impulse buying and flow experience in mobile commerce, especially the diminishing influence of mobile commerce characteristics on impulse buying. Therefore, this study will investigate the impact of the characteristics of mobile commerce on the impulse buying mechanism and explore the mediating role of flow experience. Based on a review of the characteristics of mobile commerce, flow experience, and relevant literature on impulse buying theory, this study establishes a theoretical model of flow experience with independent variables such as the characteristics of mobile commerce (personalization), network environment characteristics (interactivity), and information value (perceived informativeness and perceived persuasiveness), with flow experience and trust as mediating variables, and impulse buying as the dependent variable. By using SPSS 26.0 and Smart Plus 3.0 statistical software to conduct questionnaire surveys and analysis on 360 valid questionnaires collected, the following conclusions are drawn: Mobile commerce has a significant impact on trust and flow experience. The perceived informativeness and persuasiveness of information value have an impact on trust and flow experience. The environmental characteristics provided by mobile phones (interactivity) have a positive impact on trust and flow experience. Mobile commerce platforms have a significant impact on impulse buying through trust and flow experience, especially after the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. The characteristics of mobile commerce (personalization), network environment (interactivity), and perceived value of products (perceived informativeness and perceived persuasiveness) can stimulate impulse buying. Finally, this study provides suggestions on how to utilize the characteristics of mobile commerce and flow experience to stimulate consumers' impulse buying in the operation and management of mobile shopping platforms, and discusses the limitations of this research and possible directions for future research.
