This paper provides a detailed examination of the concept of indirect speech acts, including their definition, types, and psycholinguistic aspects from various perspectives. Indirect speech acts are used to avoid negative feelings and maintain smooth interpersonal relationships by expressing thoughts or emotions in a roundabout manner rather than directly. Developed over time, indirect speech acts are frequently employed when one cannot express emotions or thoughts directly or wishes to avoid hurting the other person. In particular, the expression of refusal through indirect speech acts requires comprehensive consideration of the situation, relationship, and speech environment. Failing to do so adequately can lead to taking on tasks beyond one's abilities and damaging relationships or situations. To propose effective learning strategies for mastering the art of indirect speech acts, this study analyzes expressions used in the drama 'Hospital Playlist' and constructs a learning model to explore educational approaches. Dramas can stimulate learners' motivation, and a hospital-themed drama abundant in indirect speech acts can serve as suitable learning material. Consequently, it is concluded that research and instructional material development are necessary to deduce and apply indirect speech acts in real-life situations, including dramas, for educational purposes.
