바르톡의 작품을 세부분으로 나누어 볼 때 「Piano Sonata, 1926」은 「out of door」, 「Mikrokosmos」와 함께 제3기에 해당한다.
Béla Bartók(1881-1945) is a Hungarian composer, pianist, and educator who represents folkism in the 20th century. He left works in various genres, including piano solo and symphonic poems, orchestral music, chamber music, ballet, and opera. This thesis, 「Piano Sonata, 1926」, along with 「out of door」 and 「Mikrokosmos」, belong to the 3rd period. All movements are centered musical note E, and the first movement is Sonata Allegro, the second movement is a three-part form, and the third movement is a modified rondo form, based on the classical form. The melody expresses the color of folk music through the Lydian mode, elegy, Mixolydia mode, and pentatonic scale, and the rhythm through dotted rhythm, cross rhythm, Bulgarian rhythm, and complex rhythm. Demodulation is used in harmony, and repetition of parallel chords and constituent chords often appears. The percussive effect of the piano is expressed through modern harmony such as tone cluster, ostinato, extreme dynamics, and short embellishments. The end of the movement ends with a dramatic sound effect with ambiguous harmony and ff to emphasize the central musical note E. It can be seen that his only sonata, 「Piano Sonata, 1926」, which consists of three movements, is evaluated as a work that shows the originality of 20th century music through the color of folk music and modern harmony in a traditional form.
