Flexible functional materials have been a great interest in various wearable electronic devices in which all constituting components should have some extents of flexibility. Flexible adhesive is essential part for successful assembly of each flexible component and it require both adhesive and mechanical properties with a thinness. However, these two properties have some trade-off relationships. In this study, we fabricated nanocomposite pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) film in order to overcome the trade-off relationship and create synergetic enhancement of both properties. We used the various size of silica nanoparticles to investigate size effect of nanoparticles on interaction between the particles and molecular chains of PSA. Next, we coated the surface of nanoparticles with polydopamine which is very famous for its exceptional adhesiveness. Thin films of nanocomposite PSA were fabricated by appropriate dispersion of nanoparticles and film casting with UV curing. And a series of characterization was conducted to distinguish the differences by surface treatment. In addition, we observed the viscoelastic behavior and predicted the relative superiority of each fabricated PSA film. We measured the both mechanical and adhesive properties and compared the experimental results with our prediction.
