Prosocial behavior is a term that implies the meaning of social skills and sociality, aimed at benefiting others without seeking compensation. Thus, the more a person performs prosocial behavior, the more desirable social skills can be developed and the better human relationships can be expected. However, children with ADHD have no choice but to have negative consequences in terms of human relationships because of their carelessness and nature of impulsivity and hyperactivity, which make them significantly less social and unable to actively carry out prosocial behavior. The development of prosocial behavior can be reached at a higher level by education based on the child's potential, so the need is more important in childhood when there is an increase in the formation of relationships with others. Particularly, it is believed that the social development of children with ADHD can be promoted if prosocial behavior is taught using appropriate methods. This study sought to find out the effect of social story intervention on prosocial behavior of student with ADHD in meal times, gathering activities, and break times. Moreover this study sought to find out if improved prosocial behavior would continue even after the end of the social story intervention. For the purpose of this study, one fourth-grade student with ADHD who is enrolled in a general class was selected as the following year. Prior to designing the experiment, the meeting of the homeroom teacher selected prosocial behaviors for student with ADHD to learn. The experiment was conducted in three stages: baseline, intervention, and maintenance using the mid-term and intermittent baseline design between situations, and was conducted 3 to 9 baselines, 12 to 35 interventions, and 3 maintenance periods, depending on the situation. At the baseline stage, this study did not intervene, but only observed each situation, and at the mediation stage, conducted social story intervention on student who participated in the study. Three maintenance observations were made one week after the end of the intervention to find out if the effect of the intervention was maintained. The situation set three situations: meal times, gathering activities, and break times. The results obtained from this study are as follows. First, by social story interventions, prosocial behavior rates increased in school meal times and in the context of gathering activity. In the case of break time, there was no increase of prosocial behavior and the intervention ended midway because during the intervention, the amount of drugs taken by the student during the study was reduced. Second, the effect of intervention was maintained even after the end of social story intervention. Although the effect of intervention was higher than that of the baseline in the meal times and in the context of the gathering activities, in the case of break time, it is difficult to judge that effect of the intervention was maintained after the end of the intervention because the quantity of intervention lacks. The above results show that social story intervention has been effective in increasing and maintaining prosocial behavior in child with ADHD. These results are in part consistent with Shim Hong-im's (2006) study, suggesting that social story intervention can be used effectively to increase prosocial behavior in children with ADHD. It also supports prior studies that have had positive effects by applying social story intervention. On the suggestion of this study, first, since this study consists of insufficient prior studies, research using social story interventions should be expanded for child with ADHD. Second, although this study used the Partial-Interval Time Sampling method, the limitations of this sampling method suggest that other observation methods should be considered in other ways of observation. Third, since the classroom situation of the school in which the target student is attending is special, the subsequent study needs to consider the diversity of the school situation.
