Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on transition metals have attracted a lot of interests as a powerful and effective way to prepare high quality, easily-transferrable graphene films. However, the thermal CVD process involves high growth temperature and catalytic ability of metals can have only limited applications in coating technology. In these prospects, a one-step low temperature CVD technique to deposit large-area graphene coating can be extremely suitable for industrial application and can pave the way for direct coating on various substrates.Graphene has extraordinary physical and electrical properties, so that it has attracted great interest in different scientific areas in the last years. While graphene is a nanomaterial with high electron mobility and elevated conductivity, it has been reported that graphene oxide, bare graphene, or the incorporation with other semiconductors can be used as catalyst materials. Therefore, the preparation of high quality graphene other materials has attracted much attention. While the graphene prepared by bulk graphite is limited in structure, film thickness and the uniformities of size, other approaches have been created to produce graphene. Self-assemble of graphite oxide and exfoliated graphite could obtain low-cost graphene film, but it sustains from many defects and, thus, one cannot anticipate the essence inherent of graphene.Electric double layer capacitors (EDLCs) have attracted much attention as an electrochemical energy storage device, due to their high power density and long durability. widely used as alternative or They are complementary power sources in portable electronic devices, electric hybrid vehicles, and uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs). EDLC can store energy by accumulating the opposite charge on the double layer at the electrode/electrolyte interface through electrostatic force. Therefore, it is generally accepted that electrode material for EDLC should have a high surface area for charge accumulation. In this paper, we report the atmospheric pressure chemical vapor deposition (CVD) growth of multilayer large area graphene (LAG) over copper foil, graphene-carbon nanotubes (G-CNT) three dimensional nanocomposite growth on copper foil, carbon nanotubes growth on chemically synthesized graphene (CG-CNT) and carbon nanotubes growth on activated carbon (AC-CNT). Among this group of CVD products, LAG were further decorated with heavy metal, platinum selenide and titanium oxide to form a serious of photocatalysts. It is worth mentioning that our prepared photocatalysts, especially LAG-TiO2, Pd-Pt/LAG-TiO2 and PtSe2/LAG-TiO2400 samples showed significantly high photocatalytic dye degradation effect and hydrogen evolution effect. Besides, electric double-layer capacitors (EDLCs) with high surface area activated carbon (YP50F) and G-CNT, CG-CNT and AC-CNT were fabricated in a simple step. Slurry type EDLCs cells were assembled using the prepared CVD products. By using our prepared CVD products as additive material, G-CNT, CG-CNT and AC-CNT base electrode exhibited high specific capacitance, excellent rate capability, and excellent stability and reliability at high current charge/discharge cycles. This group of carbon materials created by CVD method may hold great promise for the development of high-performance supercapacitors.
