This paper discusses a study of autonomous driving for unmanned vehicle. In order to operate autonomous driving, an integrated system, navigation system and a vehicle control system is necessary. The core function of the navigation system is to precisely localize vehicle position. In this paper, we propose a method to estimate the position of a vehicle using a low-cost GPS and internal sensors. A bicycle model is used to simulate the vehicle dynamics. This method gives rise to autonomous driving without resort to high precision GPS. We developed an algorithm to localize a vehicle by fusing the information of velocity, steering angle, and yaw rate delivered by internal sensors and the heading angle by a low-cost GPS. An extended Kalman filter is applied to improve the estimation accuracy. The performance of the developed algorithm was proved by comparing the vehicle positions estimated and the reference DGPS data acquired while autonomous driving.
