The telecommunication industry is a key driver of economic development. Specifically, the mobile phone industry has been rapidly developed in China. Recently, Chinese mobile phone brands become global competitors. Nevertheless, the competitiveness of those brands is not always maintained. In this perspective, the current study attempts to show how Chinese mobile phone brands can sustain their competitiveness in the global market. Depending on a review of literature, the present study analyzes the current status of Chinese mobile phone brands—Huawei, Xiaomi, Lenovo, and ZTE in the global market. In addition, the study shows the results of the SWOT analysis of those brands relative to other global brands. The results demonstrates that the Chinese mobile phone brands are now fast followers and run after some first movers—Samsung and Apple. Finally, this paper summarizes the main points of the current study, discusses implications for Chinese mobile phone providers and suggests future research directions.
