The purpose of this study is to investigate intervention strategies against Anti-Korean Wave sentiments at this current point in time when Anti-Korean Wave sentiments are rapidly rising amongst Chinese university students. In order to achieve the purposes of the study, the following research questions have been set. Firstly, the Anti-Korean Wave sentiments within Chinese university students were divided into 4 factors of contents-based crisis, marketing-based crisis, political-social crisis and cultural crisis. Under the assumption that each factor would show different Anti-Korean Wave sentiments, an in-depth investigation was conducted. Secondly, the effects of the ethnocentrism within Chinese university students on Anti-Korean Wave sentiments were investigated. Thirdly, based on the assumption that cross-cultural communication will increase as the level of using Korean Wave drama contents, the effects of cross-cultural communication through dramas on the Anti-Korean Wave sentiments within Chinese university students was investigated. In order to resolve these questions, a survey was conducted on 300 students residing within Shanghai and Seoul. The survey questionnaire was a modified version of a survey f. Thed on Korean Wave sentiments and ethnocentrism developed locally and overseas. As the method of analysis, SPSS 12.0 Statistical package was used. The results of the study are as follows. Approximately 50% of Chinese university students were aware of Anti-Korean Wave sentiments, having accessed through medias such as internet, press (TV, radio, news and the others). The results of comparison demographic data of university students by classifying Anti-Korean Wave sentiment into four factors of contents-based crisis, marketing-based crisis, political-social crisis and cultural crisis. All male and female students most frequently selected political-social crisis while contents-based crisis was least frequently selected. As the level of ethnocentrism increases, all four factors of contents-based crisis, marketing-based crisis, political-social crisis and cultural crisis increased. As the general preference and drama contents preference increased in Chinese university students, the level of Anti-Korean Wave sentiment decreased. Considering these findings, cultural globalization, cultural imperialism and sense of protection of one's own cultural industry were displayed within the respondents. Through this research, it can be seen that Anti-Korean Wave sentiments can be affected by ethnocentrism and cross-cultural communication. However, if future study can conduct deeper and more systematic analysis of the effects caused by Anti-Korean Wave feelings from China and Japan, this would enable a more comprehensive and balanced understanding of the Anti-Korean Wave sentiments within Chinese university students.
