The advance of Korean men's wears into Chinese market was from 1994, began with Eland, there are also some other brands such as Cheil Industries(Galaxy), Sejung Apparel, Beaucre Merchandising, YoungGone Trade, Kolon Fashion, LG Fashion. As the production of the fashion apparels is gradually transferring to China. Korean apparel industry will make China as its "Second Domestic Market" next step. At this point of time, this paper selected Chinese male university students in ShangHai and Chinese male students studying in Korea. This paper analyses the preference of the men's clothes, and draws a comparison between two regions. This study elucidates that Korean brand of men's clothes has a significant advance into chinese market. The purpose of this paper is to provide fundamental studies with helping derive a merchandising strategy for Chines men's clothes design. This study used questionnaires method to collect data which compose of consumption, men's clothes design, collar, fabric, detail preferences, population statistics. 180 questionnaires were distributed in ShangHai and Korea from 20th Oct to 10th Dec in 2009. Excepting uncompleted questionnaires, 161 in ShangHai and 144 in Korea were used in the final analysis. Frequency analysis, Cross Tabulation analysis, T-test was used by SPSS program. Reliability analysis of satisfaction was computing by Cronbach's Alpha. Following are the results of this paper: Firstly, the design preference of the men's clothes shows that both regions have the same preference in The Silhouette of Jacket(Straight Line), Collar Style(Notched Collar), Buttons of Single Jacket(2 Buttons), Slit(양 트임), Length of Jacket(Down to hip). there are significant differences between two regions in the preference of "Importance of the Lining" and " Sleeve Circumference". This can be explained that the characters of Korean men's clothes' trend and design has an effect on Chinese male students studying in Korea. Specially "Importance of the Lining". Comparing with Chinese men's clothes, the inner design of Korean men's clothes has more delicate factor on colorations and decorations. However, Chinese male students don't care about the inner design of the men's clothes, instead of them, Chinese male students studying in Korea thought it was important. Moreover, as there are no heating facilities in ShangHai citizen's house politically, the people are used to wearing more clothes under the men's clothes in winter. As a result, although the trend of sleeve circumference will become smaller. The students in both regions preferred bigger ones. The preference of the shirt's sleeve circumference had the same tendency as men's clothes'. Students preferred black and gray series clothes to basic color(Yellow, Red, Blue) which was influenced by the Western men's clothes in both regions. The data showed that there were significant differences in two regions. The tendency of the preference of jacket's and trousers' fiber and pattern were similar. Chinese male students in ShangHai preferred "Wool" to "Cotton", and Chinese male students studying in Korea preferred "Cotton" to "Wool/Sick". In the case of pattern, Chinese male students in ShangHai preferred "Check" to "Stripe", and Chinese male students studying in Korea preferred "Solid Color" to "Check", and differences in two regions were significant. This can be explained that traditional formal dress had an effect on Chinese male students in ShangHai, and the casual tendency (specially fabric and color) of Korean men's clothes had an effect on Chinese male students studying in Korea. Secondly, Two regions had the same results in the preference of trousers' silhouette(Bootscot), trousers' front crease line (no crease line). There are significant differences in the preference of trousers' length, Chinese male students in ShangHai chose "nine-tenths pants", and Chinese male students studying in Korea chose "Regular". This can be explained that the tendency of Korean men's clothes such as character and trend had no effect on Chinese students studying in Korea. Thirdly, Both regions had the same preference when they chose shirt such as Silhouette(Straight Line), Collar(Regular), Collar Height(First Button), Cuffs Style(French), Length(Down to the middle of waist and hip). In the case of sleeve circumference, there were significant differences between two regions, this result can be explained the same as the tendency of jacket's sleeve circumference. Both regions significantly prefer "White Series" to "Black Series", the "Red Series" which Chinese traditionally like had an effect on Chinese male students in ShangHai than those in Korea. In the case of fabric and pattern, the results were significantly different in two regions. Chines male students preferred "Foundational" to "Mixed", and Chinese male students studying in Korea preferred "Cotton Span" to "Cotton". This indicated that Chinese had the tendency to prefer practical fabric than advanced natural fabric. In the case of pattern, Chinese male students preferred "Stripe", and those in Korea like "Solid". This can be explained that the casual trend of Korean men's clothes also has an effect on Chinese male students studying in Korea. In conclusion, Comparing with Chinese male students in ShangHai, the casual design (such as jacket, shirt's sleeve, pattern and lining) of Korean men's clothes has an effect on those students studying in Korea through the experiences wearing Korean men's clothes. other design preferences also have similar results.
