This study developed a model to empirically investigate the effect of medical service quality and perceived risk on customer satisfaction, repurchase intention, and customer churn intention in Chinese hospital industry. After the results were investigated in Chinese hospital context, the results were compared with those investigated in Korean hospital context. This study is to be found useful for Korean hospitals to analyze the level of medical service quality in Chinese hospitals and to establish their hospital management strategies in China. The data was analysed using structural equation model(SEM).The findings are as follows.First, except for service environment, medical service provider's technical service quality and functional service quality factors have significant effect on customer satisfaction.Second, customer's perceived risk has significantly negative(-) effect on customer satisfaction and significant effect on customer's churn intention.Third, customer satisfaction with medical service quality has significant effect on customer's repurchase intention and has negative effect on customer's churn intention. Furthermore, customer's repurchase intention has negative effect on churn intention.Fourth, as to different hospital sizes in China, medical service quality and perceived risk have different influence on customer satisfaction, repurchase intention, and churn intention. In the large general hospital context, except for service environment, technical service quality and functional service quality have positive influence on customer satisfaction which finally results in repurchase intention. However, repurchase intention doesn't have effect on customer's churn intention. Furthermore, customer's perceived risk has negative effect on customer satisfaction while perceive risk has significant effect on churn intention. In the medium and small hospital context, except for service environment, technical service quality and functional service quality have positive influence on customer satisfaction which finally results in repurchase intention. On the contrary, repurchase intention does have negative effect on customer's churn intention. In the small clinic context, except for technical service quality, functional service quality and service environment have positive effect on customer satisfaction which influences on repurchase intention and negatively influences on churn intention. Furthermore, perceived risk has negative effect on customer satisfaction and has positive effect on customer's churn intention.Comparative study results of medical services between Chinese context and Korean context are indicated below. In Chinese context, except for service environment, technical service quality and functional service quality have positive influence on customer satisfaction which finally has positive effect on repurchase intention and negative effect on customer's churn intention. However, in Korean context, except for technical service quality, functional service quality and service environment have positive effect on customer satisfaction. As same as the result in Korean context, perceived risk in Chinese context has negative effect on customer satisfaction and positive effect on customer's churn intention. The results in research model(II) are follows. The research was to empirically investigate the effect of medical service quality and hospital's reputation on customer satisfaction, repurchase intention, and negative word of mouth as to disease severity in Chinese hospital context.First, medical service provider's functional quality and technical service quality have significant effect on customer satisfaction which results in positive repurchase intention and results negatively in negative word of mouth.Second, hospital's reputation doesn't have influence on customer satisfaction and negative word of mouth. This result is quite different from other studies which were investigated in Korean hospitals.Third, as to different disease severity, medical service quality and hospital's reputation have different effect on customer satisfaction, repurchase intention, and negative word of mouth. When patients get slightly ill, hospital reputation doesn't have effect on customer satisfaction and negative word of mouth. However, when patients get seriously ill, hospital reputation doesn't have effect on customer satisfaction but does have negative effect on negative word of mouth. It is likely that hospital reputation in China is not currently regarded as important. However, its reputation and marketing activities on building good reputation will become more important in near future.
