This study analyzed the relationship between well-being, income, and neighbors, focusing on the psychological distance from neighbors. This study used data from the 2012 Korea General Social Survey, which included questions about the number of neighbors who greet each other and the number of neighbors who can ask for help. and the size of the neighbor-networks, which moderate the income effect on well-being, was analyzed by multiple regression analysis. As a result, the size of neighbor connection interacted with income in greeting neighbors statistically significantly reduced well-being, but it was not the case in neighbors asking for help. Therefore, the income effect moderated by the size of the social relationship was different according to the psychological distance. This study showed that the social comparison, which is the basis of this effect, does not work equally for all relationships by showing that the size of the neighbor relationship that moderates the income effect on well-being differs depending on the psychological distance from the subject.
