An actinorhodin nonproducing Streptomyces lividanswas converted to an actinorhodin overproducer through asingle chromosomal integration of an antibiotic regulatory gene,afsR2. This strain exhibited early actinorhodin production andan average of 37.5% higher productivity than the S. lividanscontaining multiple copies of afsR2 plasmid in a glucosecontainingliquid culture.
