As the digital age rapidly advances and concepts like the metaverse gain momentum, the field of visual design is encountering new challenges and opportunities. This study aims to explore the innovation and improvement of curriculum design and system construction in visual design education, specifically in the context of the mobile internet era and different cultural backgrounds. Seoul National University and Tsinghua University are selected as the research subjects. An analysis model is developed to compare and analyze the differences in curriculum setting for visual design major between the two institutions. Building upon previous research, a systematic research approach involving in-depth interviews is employed to better understand the characteristics and differences of visual design education in different cultural contexts. Finally, corresponding recommendations and promotion strategies are proposed based on the findings. This study reveals that Seoul National University emphasizes an interest-driven teaching approach, suggesting the inclusion of compulsory subjects and practical opportunities to enhance cross-cultural and global education. On the other hand, Tsinghua University focuses more on market-adaptive courses and a solid foundation, recommending the addition of courses in general education and elective subjects to strengthen digital, cross-cultural, and international education. It is hoped that this research will provide valuable contributions to promoting the progress and adaptation of visual design education to future trends.
