The objectives of this study were to examine the effects of visit motivation on participation satisfaction, behavioral intention, and national image of international taekwondo event participants and to empirically verify the double mediation of participation satisfaction and behavioral intention between visit motivation and national image. To achieve these objectives, a survey was conducted for 589 participants who participated in an international taekwondo event. First, visit motivation was partially and positively correlated with participation satisfaction, behavioral intention, and national image. Second, among the sub-variables of visit motivation, cultural experience, and international socialization positively affected national image. Third, among the sub-variables of visit motivation, event attractiveness influenced event satisfaction, while event attractiveness and international socialization affected facility satisfaction and operation satisfaction. Moreover, all sub-variables of visit motivation positively influenced competition satisfaction and information satisfaction. Fourth, among the visit motives, cultural experience and event attractiveness influenced WOM intention, and cultural experience and international socialization had a positive effect on visit intention. Fifth, participation satisfaction and behavioral intention showed a double-mediation effect between the visit motivation and national image of the participants of an international taekwondo event.
