Language is a system that evolves with the changing environment. Langacker believes that grammaticalization of words means that a usage of words is consolidated into a unit over time because it is used too often. In the past decade or so, new media software such as "Tik Tok" and "Quick Hands" has attracted a large number of young users, greatly accelerating the emergence and development of Internet buzzwords, new words and new meanings. The meaning, pragmatics and grammar of the word "丧" have also changed dramatically. The youth group has even transformed the concept of "丧" into a culture, forming the value orientation of "丧 culture".Previous researches on the popular word "丧" mainly focus on the analysis of the meaning of the word, the deep motivation of the popularity of "丧 culture" and the reasons for its popularity among young people. However, there have not been many researches on the translation mechanism and motivation of the word "丧" in terms of semantics and pragmatics. Especially, the words "沮丧" and "颓丧" have not become popular words, but the light form of "丧" has been widely used. However, the light pole form of "丧" has become a means of highlighting decadence and negativity, and has been used widely, and the internal semantic differences between monosyllabic "丧" and bisyllabic "沮丧" and "颓丧" are worth studying. Therefore, from the perspective of cognitive linguistics, this paper tries to use the theory of prototype, image schema and conceptual metaphor in cognitive linguistics as the theoretical basis. This paper focuses on the semantic evolution of the verb "丧" and tries to explain the reasons for the emergence of neologisms with the theory of Image Schema.
