This study was to explore an implication for Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) of Korea based on the PETE of China. We Collected documents in one PETE department and interviewed with a department head and three teachers in China. Methods of grounded theory were used to analyze and interpret data. We found four results. First, overall system of PETE in China was similar to Korea. However, credits in the curriculum in China were more than Korea. Second, the PETE department in China was specialized to educate pre-service teachers. Moreover, subjects related to sport pedagogy were gradually increased. Third, teaching experience in China was about 10 weeks. student teachers experienced five weeks in a rural area and five weeks in a city. Especially, professors and teachers who were in charge of teaching experience educated student teachers with systemical links. Fourth, teaching experience in elementary school was more strengthen in this department because of merge of teacher education between elementary and secondary schools. Based on this study, we propose to exercise other PETE departments in China for the in-depth understandings.
