In this study, the research status of in Korea and China was considered, and the research direction of festival events. From 2010 to 2019, 165 studies related to festival events registered in the KCI in Korea and 81 studies related to festival events registered in the CSSCI in China were selected and conducted, methods of research, methods of analysis, and belonging to researchers. To increase the reliability of the research, Fleiss Kappa was applied, and each trend was identified by dividing it into research topics related to festival events, research type, research area, research method, and researcher's affiliation. The result reveals that more than 10 studies have been conducted every year for 10 years in Korean, and China has shown a decreasing trend since 2016. In the analysis by subject, ‘Effect Analysis and Measurement’ in Korea and ‘Improvement/Measurement’ in China appeared the most. And the study target was ‘region’, which appeared the most in both countries, and the research method was survey in Korea and case analysis in China. Lastly, as for the status of researcher affiliation, ‘academia’ was the most common in both countries. Through the results, the comparison of each item such as festival theme, festival type, and research area in the study between the two countries all yielded meaningful results. The research on festival events between the two countries has been compared and analyzed to identify commonalities and differences between the two countries, and the characteristics of Korean-Chinese research based on the differences found in this study were diagnosed and ways to develop festival events were sought accordingly. Author hope that will be a basic study to be used in future research, as it identified commonalities and differences between the two countries and analyzed the characteristics of Korea-China research based on differences in the study. In addition, implications were drawn based on the results, and it is necessary to move away from the focus of research on festival events in Korea and China.
