Currently, the market size of the men’s fashion is steadily growing, among which neckties are the representative men’s accessories. Therefore, the tie market size is large worldwide. In addition, as the Korean Wave rises in the field of culture and arts, interest in Korean traditional culture is also increasing. However, the market for men’s accessories utilizing traditional Korean culture is not well developed. Therefore, this study aims to contribute to the activation of Korean Wave in the fashion industry by presenting a tie design using traditional Korean patterns so that they can be sold in duty-free shops and art galleries in line with global trends. To this end, historical consideration was made and data on Korean traditional patterns were collected. After examining the history of neckties, the trend was analyzed. When looking at the 2020 tie trends while focusing on famous brands such as Hermes and Ferragamo, the motifs of ties are usually artifact patterns. The arrangement of the motifs was various such as all-over, diagonal, mesh, and horizontal linear type. Among the collected 250 pieces of traditional artifact pattern data, 9 artifact patterns were selected. Modern tie designs were tried by including the symbolism of the motifs. Samples were made by combining more than 3 colors for each design, and 3 experts selected products that have the marketability and fit trend and show the excellence of Korean traditional culture. Finally, six types were selected and 21 ties were made with the design using silk screen and jacquard. Through such a series of processes, it intended to examine the traditional patterns of Korea, explore the possibilities of modern and high-end cultural products, and re-examine the values. It was also tried to lay the groundwork for Korean Wave fashion to exert great influence in the global market, as people in the world enjoy Korean traditional culture.
