This study is based on the assumption that cultural adaptation is significant for the effective utilization of foreign young researchers attracted from abroad. The variables are set in dimensions of behavior, achievement, and attitude that are mainly used in organizational behavior research field. Job satisfaction, research achievement satisfaction, and settlement intention are selected to represent each dimension. The empirical study is conducted to test the hypothesis that foreign researchers' satisfaction formed by a professional and systematic support will positively affect job satisfaction, research achievement and settlement intention. In addition, the hypothesis that there would be a mediating effect through cultural adaptation in the relationship between the satisfaction and the dependant variables is tested through empirical studies. The analysis data were collected from 64 out of 101 the foreign young researchers participating in the Korea Research Fellowship(KRF) project. The results show that the satisfaction of the foreign young researchers on the professional and systematic support influences positively job satisfaction, research achievement satisfaction and settlement intention. The mediating effect of the cultural adaptation in the relationship between the satisfaction and the dependant variables is found only in settlement intention. It is found that the influence of cultural adaptation has a more direct effect on the living aspects such as settlement intention and the subjective satisfaction felt by young foreign excellent researchers rather than the business aspects such as job satisfaction or research achievement. Based on these results, theoretical and practical implications, limitations of the research, and future research directions are discussed.
