Diversity of accessory materials contributes to deliver its unique atmosphere and create beautifulness by expanding choice of jewelry. Especially, clay is a material which gives soft and warm feelings and make it possible to express creativity and artistic design by its unique texture and various colors. Ceramic jewelry which is one part of contemporary living culture, is functional and anti-formative work beyond technology and ideology. On the way to change the needs of customer and expand the fashion jewelry market, it is the time to seek the way to develop the ceramic jewelry market. Thesis about ceramic jewelry were presented from 1980s in South Korea and foundation of ‘Korea Ceramic Jewelry Association’ served as momentum to expand the field of ceramic jewelry. In the early 2000, Design development reports were mainstream but currently in 2018, brand development reports along with design development are trend. This study surveys the current works of ceramic artists and analyzes materials, form, price and image pattern to understand the trend of contemporary ceramic jewelry. In addition, it surveys the preference of customers to provides opportunity to compare the point of artists and consumers.. They prefer mixed materials and colors with geometry patterns and usually purchase accessories at the exhibitions and workshops. Furthermore, they demand elegant and chic accessories. By this study, it sheds new lights of current status of ceramic jewelry and seek a creative solution for the development and expansion for the satisfaction of customer needs and vitalization of ceramic jewelry which is located between settlement period and stable period.
