This study attempts to examine, based on Berry’ s acculturation theory, the role of the frame of Korea in the adaptation of university life, which is formed by the consumption of Hallyu contents and the life of study abroad. As a result, the primary frame for Korea formed by the consumption of Hallyu contents through the media before the study abroad is generally positive and thus leads to indirect assimilation attitude toward Korea. However, it is found that the consumption of Hallyu contents through media is not easy in the study abroad, and the conflict with the secondary frame, which is caused by the expansion of direct experience of living in Korea, is connected with the psychological reaction of Chinese international students, which affects acculturation. Although there are positive and negative influences on the acculturation of Chinese students, it shows that there is a limit to helping adaptation to university life by expanding the understanding of Korea with the consumption of developing Hallyu content. Therefore, it is suggested that Hallyu should adapt to Korean life and be used as a tool for assimilation or integration by diversifying the Hallyu content, globalizing the media, expanding tourism products linked to Korea and China, and fostering Korean experts in China.
