From 1999 the UNESCO proposed the Geopark, Global Geoparks Networks (GGN) are rapidly expanding. Geopark are also increasing in Japan, geotourism in the Geopark has attracted considerable attention as a means to realize the regional development. In this study, the conducted questionnaire survey targeted Unzen Volcanic Area Global Geopark (Japan) and Funiushan Global Geopark (China) with an aim to clarity the characteristics of geotourism. As a result, it was found that there is a difference in the consciousness of the Japan-China bilateral tourists to the Geopark and Geotourism. Concretely, geotourism in Japan attaches its importance to story, and has been promoted as a tool for the development of the local and regional economy for mostly areas that were once located under severe areas such as once a natural disaster areas. On the other hand, in China, geotourism is recognized as a wider range of nature tourism which include the topography and geology. In order to increase the number of visitors, the source of funds for the necessary foundation facilities and training talented personnels is burdened by government . In addition, they also have their own challenges, however, in order to achieve the three overall objectives of the Global Geoparks Network, both Japanese and Chinese geoparks should make more efforts to raise public awareness of the Geopark system and geotourism.
