This paper reports the design and implementation of a transmissive metasurface antenna for circularly polarized (CP) beam generation at 60 GHz. A three-metal-layer receiving/transmitting structure is utilized as the metasurface element to convert the incident linearly polarized (LP) waves to the radiated CP waves. Besides, the entire 360° phase shift range can be covered by rotating the CP patch on the top layer. A high-gain CP metasurface prototype is designed and fabricated as proof of concept using proposed elements for a parabolic phase distribution. The presented transmissive metasurface can find promising usages in future wireless systems.
