A compact monopole antenna acting in ultrawideband (UWB) frequency range has been proposed in this article. Two U-shaped slots has been grooved in the radiating patch. This antenna has dual band notched features at 3.4 GHz and 5.5 GHz. The antenna which is proposed has a circular radiating patch and fed by $50-\Omega$ microstrip line. Dual band-notched characteristics in the WiMAX and WLAN bands are obtained by extracting away two slots of U-shape from the circular patch for radiating purpose. The simulation of antenna proposed here was showing a matching condition for impedance over a broadband frequency range. It also has proper gain and stability in the pattern of radiation. First of all, one simple UWB and next to that another modified UWB antenna having single notched are shown as the development stages for reference.
