Free space highly-efficient strong-field THz radiation with a single-pulse energy up to 13.5 mJ and an 800 nmto-THz conversion efficiency of 1.2% is experimentally achieved in large-size lithium niobate crystals driven by 1.2 J Ti:sapphire femtosecond laser pulses.
