Flux switching permanent magnet machine (FSPM) has great potential for high speed operation owing to its compact rotor structure. However, the velocity of FSPM is restricted by high rotor core loss and low permanent magnet (PM) utilization. This article proposed a design of ultra-high-speed FSPM operating at 100krpm with amorphous alloy core. Amorphous alloy core highly reduces the core loss, and a production method for stator core is proposed to make the slotting process feasible and economical. Parallel-hybrid magnetization is adopted to increase PM utilization. Rotor strength analysis and electromagnetic analysis are conducted, and verifies that the proposed design with amorphous alloy exhibits capability at increasing the efficiency at ultra-high speed application.
