This paper presents the design of the compact ultra-wideband slant 45° dual-polarized Butler-based omni-directional MIMO antennas working at the frequency band of 1.69-2.69GHz. The proposed antenna consists of three panels of slant 45° dual-polarized dipole subarrays and two Butler-based azimuth beam formers. By replacing traditional T-splitter type azimuth beam formers of 2x2 MIMO antenna by the Butler matrix 3x3, the omni-directional 6x6 MIMO antenna can be realized without increasing the size of the antenna. A prototype of the proposed antenna is built and tested to validate the idea.
